The Blue Envelope Program promotes inclusivity and better communication to foster safer interaction between public safety and people with disabilities such as Autism or other mental or physical conditions that may require additional support or awareness. Blue Envelope is private. There is no registry. Participation is voluntary and self implemented.

The Blue Envelope Program gives disabled people the option to display and present Blue Envelope items when interacting with public safety. It gives visual cues to first responders that a person is disabled and may have communication challenges which may require more time and patience.

The Blue Envelope may contain important documents and information. Kits may vary by area and include bracelets, buttons, keychains, lanyards, license plate frames, pins, seat belt or shoulder strap covers, and stickers. Blue Envelope Program items are available for free at designated locations.

Blue Envelope is in 21 California counties and growing. Blue Envelope is literally coast to coast in 27 states. Connecticut was the first and Michigan is the latest to join Blue Envelope.
